Tired but happy

As the election finally kicks off I am reminded of how long I have been struggling and spending countless hours and energy protesting against the effects and decisions of the Howard Government. I am so tired.
I thought back to when this era started about twelve years ago. I was about to turn 16. When you are 16, things are just started to get interesting. You discover your own autonomy, and the capacity that you have, as an individual to do what you want, find your own path and press onwards. Sometimes blindly, as we all can attest if we dare think back to when we were all 16.
I have so many stories and muscle strains from my adventures. From Woomera to the streets of Sydney, so many years of obstructing and pushing shit uphill. Organising to protest, shouting at empty buildings and wondering how we are all so powerless, yet so full of joy and the awareness of our possibilities. I want to rest and look at my life, not have to want to struggle against a tide of crazy bullshit all the time.
I have no real faith that we are going to be propelled into a fair utopianation if Rudd gets in.
But, I would really like a change. The country seems to feel it too.
