Old stories are sometimes the best...

Some of the stuff Ive published in my zine in years past honestly make me cringe. But some bits of Coughing Up Legomen I feel are worth chucking out there. A short hyper, potted history of Reclaim The Street parties/festivals in Sydney...
To be continued, sometime soon, along with articles from CUL #20...

I have those thoughts sometimes when I find my old zines- some of it makes me cringe but some of it is such a beautiful record of the moment. I think about compiling a 'best of', but somehow I can't get my head around cherry-picking the good bits of myself at 19 and discarding all the (many) awkward parts. Maybe I'll do what you're doing, scanning pages in their original form and putting them up on the web.

I love reading your stuff about Reclaim The Streets. Is it strange to think that 1997 was eleven years ago, that this is a historical document now? Thank the printing press you thought to write it down... Long live zines, the paper-kind, they record us in a way that blogging can't quite achieve.
